BDBSA Project Metadata Detail

Survey/Project Number: 138          Total No. of Sites: 1176
Survey/Project Name: Phytophthora Project
Abstract: This project aims to conduct a biological survey to examine the presence (suspected by physical observation and/or confirmed by soil testing) of Phytophthora cinnamomi in native vegetation across South Australia - focusing on higher rainfall areas especially Mount Lofty Block, Kangaroo Island and southern Eyre Peninsula. AIM: Record the distribution of Phytophthora infestations in South Australia. NOTE: Phytophthora-prone sites include acidic (pH 5 - 6) soils; infertile sandy gravels.

Start Date: 28/04/1975      End Date: 31/12/2015
Survey Type: Vegetation Only

Study Area Description: Remnant native vegetation within South Australia - focussing on higher rainfall areas especially Mount Lofty Block, Kangaroo Island and southern Eyre Peninsula. Phytophthora prone sites include acidic (pH 5 - 6) soils; infertile sandy gravels.
Objectives
Vegetation: The presence (suspected by physical observation and/or confirmed by soil testing) of Phytophthora in native vegetation. Record the distribution of of Phytophthora infestations in South Australia
Fauna: *** No fauna survey objectives recorded
Methodology
Vegetation: For most sites all or some of the following details noted: Species affected, topography, soil, size of area or number of species affected Data collected opportunistically ie when someone is suspecting the presence of Phytophthora through symptoms in plants known to be susceptibel to the disease. Data is collected all year round. Field work is always conducted by at least one competent person
Fauna: *** No vertebrate methodology recorded

Data Distribution Rules: Public Dataset
Project Basis: Vegetation : Presence and absence method
Vegetation : Native Vegetation Assessment Program. - NON Standard BDBSA methodology used.
