Survey/Project Name: Dalhousie Survey (Scientific Expedition Group)
Abstract: This project aims to conduct a biological survey in Witjira National Park, including Dalhousie Mound Springs, by the Scientific Expedition Group (SEG), in 2003. The Witjira 2003 expedition in north-east South Australia, was a major collaboration between SEG, Department for Environment and Heritage, and National Parks and Wildlife Service. OBJECTIVES: 1. Conduct a biodiversity survey of the area, particularly the mound springs, to observe any differences between the springs with original vegetation, and those where feral Date Palm (Phoenix sp.) are invading the springs. 2. Search for rare rodents such as Kowari (Dasyuroides byrnei) and Southern Marsupial Mole (Itjaritjara) (Notoryctes typhlops). 3. Survey for feral animals.
