Survey/Project Name: Directory of Important Wetlands (Report)
Abstract: This project is a hardcopy report of wetlands throughout Australia. CONTENTS: South Australian section has 69 wetlands. Wetlands were researched from existing references and data sources (i.e. no new field work). Wetlands of national importance are listed according to criteria specified in the report. Only notable plant species are listed for each wetland, if they are nationally or state threatened. Information on the composition of any plant species, or communities for which the wetland is particularly important, is also included. Notable nationally or state threatened fauna are listed. Information is presented on composition of important fauna that may inhabit the wetland permanently or seasonally, including migratory species. An indication of population size, breeding colonies, migration stopover etc. is also given where available.

Study Area Description: The South Australian section of the Directory of Important Wetlands lists wetlands from throughout the State. State borders
Objectives

Information on the composition of any plant spcies or communities for which the wetland is particularly important is also included.

Methodology
Vegetation: The Directory includes only 'Notable flora": 1. Species that are threatened at national or State level that occur within the wetland. 2. Information on the composition of any plant species or communities for which the wetland is particularly important (e.g. local endemic species or good examples of native plant communities). Vegetation data comes from secondary references, no specific field surveys for this publication.
