Survey/Project Name: Mary Seymour Conservation Park Prescribed Burning Assessment
Abstract: Mary Seymour Conservation Park has a small infestation of buckthorn, (Rhamnus alaternus) amongst Melaleuca brevifolia closed shrubland habitat. A small prescribed burn was undertaken in August 2001 to assess effectiveness of fire in removing buckthorn. Burn was undertaken on 14 August 2001 and follow-up photopoint and plant count (tea-tree and buckthorn) monitoring. Monitoring program to culminate in report to NVC ~ May 2002 - depending on results may undertake larger burn for whole population.
