BDBSA Project Metadata Detail

Survey/Project Number: 748          Total No. of Sites: 0
Survey/Project Name: Coastal Vegetation Transect Surveys
Abstract: Since the 1980's a number of coastal vegetation transects (across the whole of South Australia's coast) have been surveyed mainly in saltmarshes and offshore islands. The transects have been surveyed with high accuracy so they can be repeated in the future to measure change.

Start Date: 19/04/2011      End Date: 01/01/2020
Survey Type: Vegetation Only

Study Area Description: Whole of SA coast
Objectives
         Vegetation: Refer to Abstract.
Fauna: *** No fauna survey objectives recorded
Methodology
Vegetation: The coastal plant communities are mapped along transects using RTKGPS technology to record the position of vegetation boundaries and also record the natural surface. The surveys conform with Biological Survey of SA methodology. Quadrats are established in plant communities. Additional plants found along transects outside of quadrats are collected and vouchered. Quadrat data is entered into the Biol Survey of SA database. Transect data is stored with the coastal survey database which also contains beach profiling data.
Fauna: *** No vertebrate methodology recorded

Data Distribution Rules: Public Dataset
Project Basis: Vegetation : Unclassified - pending reassessment.
