Survey/Project Name: Hale Conservation Park Biodiversity Action Plan
Abstract: This project aims to to produce a Biodiversity Action Plan for Hale Conservation Park, north-east of Adelaide, South Australia, to document the biodiversity assets, threats to these assets, and develop practical and pragmatic actions to ameliorate these threats. An ongoing monitoring program to evaluate success of proposed actions will also be devised.

Start Date: 17/10/2016      End Date: 06/01/2017
Survey Type: Vegetation Only

Study Area Description: Hale Conservation Park
Objectives
         Vegetation: Refer to Abstract.
Fauna: *** No fauna survey objectives recorded
Methodology
Vegetation: T & M Ecologists will undertake accurate on ground field assessments during spring when native orchids and annuals are likely to be visible, at all times being cognisant of the need to minimise impacts on this fragile environment and the species that inhabit it. The Bushland Rapid Assessment Technique (BushRAT) developed by DEWNR will be used to assist with gathering data. The primary tasks to be undertaken during field survey would include: 1. Vegetation survey and vegetation association mapping to provide an overview and description of the vegetation; 2. Vegetation condition assessment, including provision of information on management issues, threats to the Park and opportunities for investment into restoration works; 3. Assessment of conservation values; 4. Assessment of threats and management issues, including weeds, erosion, recreation, grazing pressure and fire; 5. Recording of all native and introduced plant species present; 6. Mapping of pest plant infestations (proclaimed species and red alert weeds) and degraded areas, including condition ratings and corresponding priority management actions; 7. Noting and mapping incidental vertebrate sightings, both pests and native species; 8. Describing other general land management issues observed; 9. Gathering data to underpin future monitoring efforts, including representative photos.
Fauna: *** No vertebrate methodology recorded
