Wetland Resources of the South East of SA (Report) |
Abstract: |
Study to document the important wetlands of the South East of South Australia, and to make recommendations with regard to the conservation of wetlands. 81 wetlands assessed.
Biological information on each wetland is very brief - mainly dominant vegetation associations, possibly dominant species, and a brief list of waterbirds associated with the wetland, particulalry focussing on conservation values. Most information in report relates to management requirements, especially water management. Amount of information for each wetland varies considerably. |

Study Area Description: |
81 Wetlands within the South East of South Australia. The northern extent of the study area includes the Tilley Swamp Watercourse to Salt Creek and Bakers Range to Alf Flat and Messent Conservation Park. |
Objectives |
Vegetation: |
Briefly describe major vegetation habitats and/or associations and floristic features contributing to conservation value, e.g. rare species. Amount of information for each wetland varies considerably. In some cases, common and/or dominant plant species are also listed. |
Fauna: |
Briefly list waterbirds associated with the wetland, particularly focussing on conservation values. Amount of information for each wetland varies considerably |
Methodology |
Vegetation: |
Some existing information on each wetland was collated, and site inspections were also undertaken. Site inspections collected information of a very general nature e.g. extent, nature of native vegetation, topography and general information relating to management requirements. |
Fauna: |
Existing references and records of waterbirds were used (e.g. SAOA sources) to list a limited number of birds associated with the wetlands (particularly those contributing to conservation values. |
