Start Date: 01/10/1977      End Date: 31/08/1986
Survey Type: Fauna only

Study Area Description: The Cooper Creek was divided into: Upper Cooper (Queensland border to about Chillimookoo WH, including the North West branch and the Norhtern Overflow; Middle Cooper (Chillimookoo WH to Waukatanna WH), Lower Cooper (belwo Waukatanna WH to about 5km below Cuttupirra WH); Lake Eyre Section (about 5km below Cuttupirra WH to Lake Eyre)
Objectives
Vegetation: *** No vegetation survey objectives recorded
Fauna: To compile an annotated list of all birds recorded in survey area (30 visits totalling 101 days). Information includes an indication of population abundance, frequency of sitings, breeding records, whether birds are dependent on water.
Methodology
Vegetation: *** No vegetation methodology recorded
Fauna: The survey region was visited on 30 occasions, totalling 101 days studying the birds between the Queensland border and Lake Eyre. The longest visit was 8 days, nine visits were for 5 days or more, and five visits were for a single day. Middle Cooper - 28 survey days; Lower Cooper - 53 days; Upper Cooper - 16 days; Lake Eyre - 4 days. In his annotated list, Badman attempted to summarise know breeding records from Cooper Creek, using his own data, published breeding records and also draw extensively on the data in The Atlas of Australian Birds (Blakers et al. 1984). All visits were made using a four wheel drive vehicle.
