Survey/Project Number: 208          Total No. of Sites: 0
Survey/Project Name: Watervalley Wetlands Management Plan
Abstract: Management Plan for several wetlands in the Watervalley Wetlands. Hard copy only of report exists (1992). Information includes hydrology, soils, vegetation associaitions, water control structures, commercial uses, and waterbird breeding and maintenance records, including indications of numbers of breeding sites. Qualitative description of main vegetation associations in the buffer zone and wetland zones for each wetland. Each wetland has a map in the report with scale, roads, fences, native vegetation and wetland area. Vegetation lists and maps for each wetland, also there are bird and vertebrate lists.

Start Date: 01/01/1991      End Date: 01/11/1999
Survey Type: Vegetation and Fauna

Study Area Description: Watervalley Wetlands (within the Bakers and Marcollat Ranges in the Upper South East). Wetlands referred to in the Management Plan are Bonneys Camp, Bunbury, Log Crossing, Mandina Marshes, Cortina Lakes, Mandina, Mrs White's Lagoon, Pretty johns, Jip Jip, Dirty Joes, Jaffray Complex, Tresant, Balmecarra Complex The Watervalley Wetlands Complex, lies within the Bakers Range and Marcollat Watercourses, located in the north-eastern half of tghe South-East, where theres is a series of low ridges trending nort-westerly and running parallel to the coast.
Objectives
Vegetation: Qualitative description of main vegetation associations in the buffer zone and wetland zones for each wetland. Visit period 1 Jan 1995 - 1 Nov 1999: Each wetland has a map in the report with scale, roads, fences, native vegetation and wetland area. Vegetation lists and maps for each wetland.
Fauna: For waterbirds, record breeding and maintenance records, including indications of numbers of breeding sites. Visit period 1 Jan 1995 - 1 Nov 1999: Bird and vertebrate lists.
Methodology
Vegetation: Vegetation associations for whole wetland complex named, divided into "Buffer Zone" and Wetland Zone
Fauna: Over a three year period, involving 2 to 4 visits per wetland, the report's author Mike Harper undertook quantitative surveys of waterbird use. Appendices 2 and 3 in the report present data for each species recorded at the wetland and a summary of breeding colonies recorded. Table 4 in the report identfies the major wetland habitats used by wildlife and the primary wildlife production/maintenance output of the majority of the wetland sites. The report also includes fish known to occur or to have been released into the wetlands.

Data Distribution Rules: Public Dataset
Project Basis: Vegetation : Fauna species/population Study (ie trapping records over time period for species study). NOTE:NON Std Svy methodology may have been used.
