Survey/Project Name: Lower Glenelg River CP small mammal population monitoring
Abstract: Small mammal population monitoring (2001-2011) initially Southern bandicoots but now swamp antechinus and nationally threatened mammals in reserve (Glenelg River), including heath mouse and long-nosed potoroos. Some behavioural and interactive information leading to some management issues. Visits in late autumn early winter and early summer. Animals are captured in Pitfall or Elliot Traps. The traps are checked twice daily and animals removed identified, and if appropriate, weighed, marked and photographed.

If the species is of interest to the SA Museum. A small tissue sample may be taken and preserved in alcohol/saline solution - no voucher specimen will be taken unless the capture is extraordinary. Visits in late autumn early winter and early summer. Program expanded to collect data on additional fauna species
