Survey/Project Name: Habitat Mapping Database Coorong and Lower Lakes
Abstract: This project aims to map different habitats throughout the Coorong and Lower Lakes, and plot the results on to a spatial data base. The habitats are assessed and classified according to their landscape, vegetation and condition - eg. Mud flat, low shrub land etc. The descriptions are standard and assessed by skilled regional staff. An assessment officer walked around the Coorong and lower lakes and recorded each habitat type according to standard classifications. The outer limits (extent) of each habitat type were mapped and GPS locations recorded. It is likely that photographs are taken for each habitat type. Most of the field assessments were completed and the core data collected by mid 2004.

Start Date: 01/01/2003      End Date: 01/01/2013
Survey Type: Vegetation Only

Study Area Description: *** No study area description recorded
Objectives
Vegetation: Currently hard copy and excel, but the data will be incorporated into Biomaps with the classifications, and also on to the Clare Harding Database. The project is now in the data processing stage, with the focus on getting the data in to a format that that will be compatible with the current state databases. Russell also mentioned a project summary document that should be located on the DEH web.
