The Sir Joseph Banks Group expedition took place from 12-27 May 2009. The majority of the projects focussed on the marine biology area, but there was also a smaller terrestrial biology component covering vertebrate survey and vegetation mapping. All terrestrial data was collected following the standards of the Biological Survey of SA.
It was proposed to establish a maximum of four biological survey sample sites on Spislby Island and as many as possible standard BSSA vegetation quadrats to be collected on both Spilsby and Reevesby Islands. Opportune collections and observations were made on all islands visited.
In addition to the biological survey work on Spilsby and Reevesby Islands, the Greater Stick-nest Rat grids and traplines on Reevesby were re-sampled as part of the ongoing monitoring of this introduced population. |
