Survey/Project Name: WESTERN GAWLER RANGES - BUSH BLITZ
Abstract: The Australian Biological Resources Study (ABRS) within the Australian Government has developed a species discovery program, 'Bush Blitz', targeted at recently acquired properties within the National Reserve System (NRS) of Australia. The State Herbarium has been invited to participate in a Bush Blitz survey of Hiltaba Station in the Western Gawler Ranges. The property was recently purchased by Nature Foundation SA under the National Reserve System program and is adjacent to the State-owned Gawler Ranges National Park. The core taxa identified by Bush Blitz relevant to the Herbarium are vascular plants (including weeds) and cryptogams (fungi, lichens, mosses). The Herbarium has identified the following institutional priorities: Gawler Ranges endemic taxa Groups that are being actively researched at the State Herbarium such as: Acacia spp. particularly A. aneura complex; Malvaceae; Solanaceae; Myoporaceae; Zygophyllaceae; Poaceae; Asteraceae; Chenopodiaceae (particularly samphires); Rhamnaceae; Hibbertia spp. Naturalised plants Fungi Mosses Lichens

Objectives
Vegetation: a Bush Blitz of vascular plants and Cryptograms at the National Reserve System (NRS) properties of Hiltaba Station and the Gawler Ranges National Park, South Australia; undertake field collection of the following taxa: vascular plants; Cryptogams. Collected specimens will be identified to species level wherever possible and accessioned into a public collection in a timely fashion. All holotypes and syntypes and half share of paratypes of species or subspecies permanently collected on the Field Trip will be donated to the State Herbarium of South Australia. Specimens and material collected will be lodged in the State Herbarium of South Australia.
