Survey/Project Number: 990          Total No. of Sites: 1039
Survey/Project Name: LAKE EYRE BASIN MOUND SPRINGS ASSESSMENT (LEBSA)
Abstract: The project involves geomorphic, hydrological and biological surveys of springs within the potential impact-areas of coal development in the Pedirka, Lake Eyre, Arckaringa and Cooper Basins in the Far North region of South Australia. Three field trips were carried out from August to November 2014, one June 2015, and another August 2015. Datasheets were filled out wherever there was free water or vegetation--otherwise just GPS location was recorded, and photopoint taken. Department of Environment Water and Natural Resources (DEWNR) contracted the Australian Government Office of Water Science to collect baseline data to fill knowledge gaps for the National Springs Database project, to support the decision-making process around coal seam gas, coal mining and other large coal projects for the Independent Expert Scientific Committee on Coal Seam Gas and Large Coal Mining Development (the IESC) executive committee.
