Land Management Program Adelaide Mount Lofty Ranges (AMLR) |
Abstract: |
The Nature Conservation Society of South Australia's Threatened Plant Action Group (TPAG) has been actively working over the past 12 years to recover, protect and conserve threatened plant species and ecological communities.
OBJECTIVES:
TPAG primarily focuses on undertaking in situ conservation measures to protect threatened plant populations and habitats in the wild, and works with government organisations (such as the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources) and other community groups to implement on-ground recovery actions which include:
1. environmental weed management
2. fencing and feral herbivore control
3. restoration of degraded habitats
4. site action planning and management
5. liaising with and advising landholders
6. population surveys and monitoring.
TPAG receives funding for program coordination through the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Group and thus forms part of the major Plant Recovery Programs, through the Mount Lofty Ranges project.
Projects are ongoing at many sites throughout the MLRGA region.
