Abstract: | This project relates to a BushBlitz expedition to survey fauna in the Lake Torrens National Park and surrounding areas, in the Far North region, South Australia, over two weeks from 28 August to 9 September 2016, to discover new biodiversity information. During the BushBlitz survey, the team of approximately 15 scientists (mainly from the South Australian Museum and State Herbarium of SA) will collect specimens of plants and animals (particularly invertebrates) with a focus on discovering new species. The scientific team will be assisted by 2-3 BushBlitz staff and eight volunteers from BHP. |

Specimens destined for vouchering will be transported to camp, in a cool environment, within 3 hours of collection and euthanised the same day. Bats 1. Primarily sound-recorders will be used. 2. If harp traps are used, they are checked each morning, or in mist nets that are continuously monitored during the evening. 3. Animals removed from traps and transported to camp in cloth bags. 4. Weighed, sexed and measured. 5. Vouchers euthanised same day. 6. Non-vouchered animals returned to place of capture after dark to avoid being taken by predator. Reptiles and amphibians 1. Trapped in pit traps and funnel traps that will be checked morning and evening. 2. Opportunistic collecting under logs, in sand, under bark. 3.
