State Herbarium of South Australia (ADHERB) - Partial |
Abstract: |
Records from the State Herbarium of South Australia database (ADHERB) are appended weekly to the SA Flora layer (BDBSA Supertable) against Source code 'AD'.
USERS TO NOTE : Specimens received by the Herbarium from 2018 onwards are not currently available through ADHERB. Access to these recent records should be discussed direct with the Herbarium.
The database is used to store data relating to the physical plant specimens held by the State Herbarium of SA. Data is from a wide range of sources collected over a long time frame and contains various levels of detail. The accuracy of location and other information, especially for the historical records may be poor.

Voucher specimens for scientific studies are physical plant specimens on which species identifications have been based. They are vital to ensuring casual or scientific observations on plants keep up-to-date with changes to plant names as knowledge of the flora improves. Without them the quality of scientific and other research would be prone to decay over time.
Collection records showing plant distribution can also be accessed online through eFlora SA and Australia's Virtual Herbarium.

Voucher specimens in the herbarium database include many that were collected to document and verify plant collections from the Biological Survey of South Australia therefore vouchered records may be represented in both datasets within the Supertable.
ADHERB records are only appended to the supertable if the taxonomic name applied to the specimen is a current taxon within the SA Flora Census. |
