Survey/Project Name: Yorke Peninsula Malleefowl Questionnaire
Abstract: This project aims to conduct a postal survey during 1999 by Greencorp and Department for Environment and Heritage (Biological Survey and Monitoring Section), to gather information about Malleefowl (Leipoa ocellata), Common Brushtail Possum (Trichosurus vulpecula) and Southern Hairy-nosed Wombat (Lasiorhinus latifrons) distribution on private land, on the agricultural-portion of Yorke Peninsula, South Australia. METHODOLOGY: Landowners who owned large (>10 hectare) blocks of native vegetation were identified and sent a questionnaire, which was primarily intended to clarify issues relating to historical and present Malleefowl, Brushtail Possum and Southern Hairy-nosed Wombat distribution and abundance. 563 surveys were sent and 259 responses were received. 40 respondees reported Malleefowl on their property.

Study Area Description: Survey forms were sent to all private landholders (non-residential) on Yorke Peninsula. Fauna survey corresponds with the Yorke Peninsula Herbarium Region.
