BDBSA Project Metadata Detail

Survey/Project Number: 218          Total No. of Sites: 36
Survey/Project Name: Spiny Daisy ( Acanthocladium dockeri) Project
Abstract: This species was presumed extinct before it was re-discovered in 1999 by Paul Slattery, a farmer from Laura and identified by the State Herbarium. It was found 200 km from where it was previously thought to occur. Over the next few years 3 additional populations were found on the roadsides in the Mid North. All plants at each site were found to be genetically identical. Weed control at these sites has been carried out since re-discovery. A monitoring program for the Spiny Daisy is carried out annually. This dataset decribes the known location and extent of this threatened plant. The dataset includes records of plants translocated to new locations or increasing the extent of natural populations.

Objectives
Vegetation: Do we add translocated populations into Opportune? J:\Oracle Workspace\BSM_data_transfers\Archive_loaded\SU218_ SpinyDaisyProject(MidNorth)\SU_218_SU_223_Minimum_Standard_DEH_Data_final.xls Translocated populations have been entered as opportune records. See species comments field. Some editing of this field is needed to ensure that status of popn is included.
