Survey/Project Name: Restoring Riparian Vegetation along Minnow Creek
Abstract: Aim to restore riparian vegetation of Minnow Creek, which flows through centre of park. An Action Plan describes 6 sections of the creek and work to be undertaken in each; current emphasis on lower parts of the creek. Works involve weed removal (especially woody weeds like willows, ash, elm, olive, boxthorn, dogrose) to promote native regeneration and reduce competition with native regrowth and rehabilitation of eroded areas. Project assists water quality improvement objectives of Catchment Plan. Stage 1 of 3 stage/10 year project completed. Dependent on funding for remaining stages as identified in Action Plan.

Start Date: 01/01/1999      End Date: 01/01/2010
Survey Type: Vegetation Only

Study Area Description: *** No study area description recorded
Objectives
Vegetation: Works undertaken in 3 sections but no formal photopoints established, other than periwinkle control sites, which mainly show nature of periwinkle decline and death. Herbicide trials have established suitable spray procedure for periwinkle control. Potential for monitoring - compare regrowth/regeneration in the parts weeded and not weeded.
