Survey/Project Number: 263          Total No. of Sites: 0
Survey/Project Name: 263-NO LONGER IN USE-was Pterostylis cucullata Protection (Belair National Park)
Abstract: Original Project Name = Pterostylis cucullata (Belair). Regional staff advised that this project is just part of project SU 221. The orchid Pterostylis cucullata is rated nationally as a threatened species. Populations of the orchid in Belair park are restricted, fragmented and subject to competition from weeds. In order to conserve populations, the effect of hand-pulling the weeds is being evaluated as a conservation option. Information will contribute to a recovery plan for the orchid. This program is part of a project to compile and implement recovery plans for SA native orchids nationally rated as threatened species. The project is known as the Lofty Block Threatened Orchid Recovery Project (LBTORP) and includes the Lofty and the adjoining Flinders IBR's.

For the orchids, data includes population species name, USX code, plant population size, number of flowering individuals, number of flowers as well as the number aborted, grazed, pollinated, hand pollinated, damaged, spent and caged. Site information includes site location, GPS coordinates, date and observer.
