Survey/Project Number: 907          Total No. of Sites: 16
Survey/Project Name: Critical Fish Habitat Project
Abstract: The Critical Fish Habitat project was developed to provide a framework to guide and undertake re-introductions of threatened fish species to the Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth (CLLMM) region of South Australia, namely the Yarra Pygmy Perch, Southern Pygmy Perch, Murray Hardyhead and Southern Purple-Spotted Gudgeon, with a primary objective of re-establishing self-sustaining populations. Fish re-introduced were rescued under the Drought Action Plan for South Australian MDB Threatened Freshwater Fish Populations project. REFERENCE: Bice C, Whiterod N, Zampatti B (2014). Start Date: 01/07/2011      End Date: 30/06/2014
Survey Type: Vegetation and Fauna

Study Area Description: Lower Lakes, with the majority of the work and around the Hindmarsh Island area.
Objectives
Vegetation: *** No vegetation survey objectives recorded
Fauna: The Critical Fish Habitat (CFH) project was developed in 2011 to provide a framework to guide and undertake reintroductions of threatened fish species to the Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth (CLLMM) region. As part of the CFH, monitoring was undertaken to (a) determine the status (e.g. distribution, abundance, recruitment) of threatened species in the CLLMM region, and (b) provide an initial evaluation of the success of reintroductions towards meeting the objective of re-establishing self-sustaining wild populations.
Methodology
Vegetation: *** No vegetation methodology recorded
Fauna: Methods used inlcude: dip net, seine net, fyke net, e fishing. Methodology is outlined in Bice, C., Whiterod, N., Wilson, P., Zampatti, B. and Hammer, M. (2013).
