Survey/Project Name: LOWAN MALLEE Landscape Assessent Framework Fieldwork (LAF)
Abstract: The South Australian Murray-Darling Basin (SAMDB) Habitat Management and Restoration Program provides ecological leadership for biodiversity conservation in the SAMDB. The fieldwork will assist in the definition of ecologically-defensible conservation priorities for the Lowan Mallee Interim Biogeographical Regionalisation for Australia (IBRA) subregion (MDD4) in the Murraylands region of South Australia, by using the new (and existing) information to assist in applying a landscape assessment.

Study Area Description: Lowan Mallee region. Survey areas: Ngarkat, Peebinga, Karte, Billiatt and Carcuma CP, Billiatt Wilderness Protection Area. on 1997), with a few modifications.
Objectives
         Vegetation: Refer to Abstract.
         Fauna: Refer to Abstract.
Methodology
         Vegetation: Vegetetaion information collected will focus on current standard methodology for biological survey in the agricultural zone of SA (Heard & Channon 1997), with a few modifications.
         Fauna: Bird observations will be made at every site, 3 visits will be made with a 5ha/30min search.

Project Basis: Vegetation : Biological Survey of South Australia - Standard Survey methodology used.
Vegetation : Monitoring - Vegetation/Ecosystem (ie species records - usually re-visited for ongoing monitoring) NOTE:NON Std Svy methodology may have been used.
Fauna : Monitoring - Fauna/Ecosystem (ie species records - usually re-visited for ongoing monitoring) NOTE:NON Std Svy methodology may have been used.
