BDBSA Project Metadata Detail

Survey/Project Number: 152          Total No. of Sites: 59
Survey/Project Name: Strzelecki (B. Sparrow)
Abstract: This project aims to conduct a biological survey of the Strzelecki dunefield and Cooper Creek floodout, in the north-east of South Australia, to obtain vegetation species and abundance information for utilisation in developing new remote sensing techniques for vegetation mapping (PhD Project).

Start Date: 01/10/2002      End Date: 30/07/2003
Survey Type: Vegetation Only

Study Area Description: Study Area is located in the Strzelecki Dunefield and Cooper Creek floodout. Rainfall<200mmp/a Vegetation consists mainly of Zygochloa dunefields and coolabahs etc in floodot countr Site is bounded by the following 250K mapsheets: Gason, Innaminka, Kopperamanna, Strzelecki, Marree and Callabonna GIS Graphic coverage to be provided later
Objectives
Vegetation: To obtain vegetation species and abundance information for utilisation in developing new remote sensing techniques for vegetation mapping (PhD Project)
Fauna: *** No fauna survey objectives recorded
Methodology
Vegetation: Mostly will use 100mx100m Quadrats, record all species and cover abundance as per BSR Standard Methodology. Each site will also be wheelpointed/ Step pointed to accurately determine cover composition.
Fauna: *** No vertebrate methodology recorded

Data Distribution Rules: Public Dataset
Project Basis: Vegetation : Native Vegetation Assessment Program. - NON Standard BDBSA methodology used.
Vegetation : Biological Survey of South Australia - Standard Survey methodology used.
