Survey/Project Name: Henry Creek Ecosystem Monitoring
Abstract: This project is the first round (2002) of data collection in an ongoing monitoring project of Henry Creek. Vegetation sites were set up, 20 transects at regular intervals perperdicular to Henry Creek 10m to 20m long depending on wetland habitat and marked every 10m and at the start and end by a steel post where GPS location was recorded. The presence of every plant species was recorded in 1m x1m quadrats between the steel posts, a gross measure of abundance (1=present, 2=prominent) and heights of Melaleuca and Leptospermums were also recorded. The presence of surface water was noted and a site photograph was taken at the western end steel post. Bird species seen or heard while surveying the vegetation quadrats were counted and recorded. 77 mature Silky Teatrees were tagged with an aluminium disc by a nail 2m above ground level and recorded using a GPS. The tree health was scored '1' healthy and '2' unhealthy. The results from the study will be used to monitor changes to birds and vegetation over time and relate these to water drainage in the area.

Study Area Description: *** No study area description recorded
Objectives
Vegetation: Two previous biological assessments have been carried out at Henry Creek and they provided information on plant species presence and abundance for this report. The reports are: West Avenue Range Biological Survey in december 1999 and a Clearance Application 99/2149/640 in february 2000 by Native Veg.
Fauna: *** No fauna survey objectives recorded
Methodology
Vegetation: *** No vegetation methodology recorded
Fauna: *** No vertebrate methodology recorded

Data Distribution Rules: Public Dataset
Project Basis: Vegetation : Monitoring - Vegetation/Ecosystem (ie species records - usually re-visited for ongoing monitoring) NOTE:NON Std Svy methodology may have been used.
