| Fauna: | Survey people: Mark Bachmann (SE Regional Ecologist), David Paull (University of NSW), Dr Peter Johnston (Maquarie University) and Mark Adams (SA Museum). Cage traps will be placed in suitable habitat for the Southern Brown Bandicoot with an Elliot trap placed each side (to reduce disturbance to cage traps). The bandicoots will be removed from the traps, sexed and weighed. A very small (~ 2mm across) ear biopsy will be taken from each ear and preserved in a saline/alcohol solution. The location of the biopsy will also serve as a means of marking individuals should they be subsequently recaptured. Tissue samples will be obtained from a representative number of animals from each population (~5-10%) pbefore moving to the next site. The bandicoots will be released immediately following this procedure. Other animals captured will be identifieds then immediately released. | ||
