Survey/Project Number: 390          Total No. of Sites: 261
Survey/Project Name: Multiflora species recovery plan for 9 nationally endangered plant species
Abstract: The project involves developing a species recovery plan for the nine species (Acacia menzelii, Acacia pinguifolia, Acacia rhetinocarpa, Caladenia colorata, Olearia pannosa ssp.pannosa, Phebalium lowanense, Prostanthera eurybioides, Pterostylis arenicola & Thelymitra epipactoides). These species are Nationally Threatened Plants which occur within the Eastern foothills of the Mt. Lofty Ranges, Ranges proper and Murraylands. The threats to these plants include: competition from weeds, grazing by stock, road grading activities, salinity, innapropriate fire regimes, lack of recruitment and small population size. The distribution and abundance of each species was recorded and the threats to their survival. A Species Profile was developed for each species. A Threat Matrix was developed of species versus threat. Previously known populations were revisited and new populations were discovered, mapped and databased. The priorities for threat abatement were listed and a monitoring program established.
