Survey/Project Name: Southern Bell Frog Monitoring and Habitat Restoration in the South-East of SA
Abstract: This project will build on work currently being conducted by the Department of Sustainability and Environment in Victoria, which aims to improve knowledge of the habitat requirements of the Southern Bell Frog (SBF) and develop processes to enhance and increase suitable habitat for the species across its distribution. The locations of known SBF populations in the South East of South Australia will be used to identify `site clusters', and each site within the cluster will be surveyed for the presence or absence of the SBF. This data, together with environmental variables for each site, will then be used to identify a number of suitable sites for habitat enhancement. In addition, SBF population status assessments will be conducted at key wetland sites with SBF habitat across the South East. Survey conducted in the South East in 2009/2010.
