NATIVE VEG ACT - BAM METHOD |
Abstract: |
Plant species recorded for assessments conducted under the Native Vegetation Act 1991 using the Bushland Assessment Method (BAM). The majority of assessments conducted under the Native Vegetation Act 1991 will be conducted by Native Vegetation Council approved consultants.
The BAM is the method authorised by the Native Vegetation Council to assess applications under the Native Vegetation Act.
These include assessments for clearance and assessments for potential Significant Environmental Benefit Areas and assessments for Heritage Agreements. The method is based on surveying a one hectare area that is representative of the vegetation association. All plant species within this area are recorded: naturally occurring native and exotic species, and planted species.
The Method is used in the agricultural region of South Australia. For Native Vegetation Act assessments of vegetation in the rangelands of South Australia, the Rangeland Assessment method is used. For scattered tree assessments, the Scattered Tree assessment method is applicable.
