Survey/Project Name: SOUTHERN BROWN BANDICOOT SURVEY -SE
Abstract: To confirm the presence of the Southern Brown Bandicoot (SBB) within two conservation parks, in the South East region of South Australia, to assist with reserve management, and in particular the implementation of appropriate fire regimes. The SBB was last captured in Telford Scrub Conservation Park (CP) in 1982 and digging activity was last recorded in 1990. Anecdotal evidence suggests that signs of the species have been identified in Telford Scrub CP since 1990 by DEWNR staff (around Spring 2007). Captures of the SBB have been made in 2010 in the nearby Grundys Lane Native Forest Reserve and its presence is presumed likely in Telford Scrub CP given the proximity of these reserves. Captures of the SBB within Gower CP were last made in 1998/99.

Survey Type: Fauna only

Study Area Description: Telford Conservation Park Gower Conservation Park
Objectives
Vegetation: *** No vegetation survey objectives recorded
         Fauna: Refer to Abstract.
Methodology
Vegetation: *** No vegetation methodology recorded
Fauna: Remote infrared cameras; hair tunnels. Ten camera stations will be installed at each of four sites. At each of the same four sites a hair tunnel will be baited(during autumn). It is proposed to conduct two camera surveys at each site (at each reserve) for 7-14 nights, timed at least one month apart. Two hair tunnel surveys will be conducted at each site (at each reserve) for 7-14 days, timed at least one month apart.
