Plant Population Database (PP) metadata |
Abstract: |
The Plant Population Database documents populations of threatened plant species across South Australia.
Summary data is delivered in the Flora Supertable (Source=PP).
The main purpose of this project is to store metadata for the Plant Population Database within BDBSA.
The Plant Population database is primarily used to store threatened plant population related data. A wide range of environmental and physical characteristics for each plant population can be stored along with species distribution and abundance information. Voucher data may be included. The nature and severity of threats to the population can also be described. Many records also include detailed information on associated plant species and habitat. Repeated visits to photopoints and monitoring sites are also documented.
The Flora Supertable flags the plant population records as ISVOUCHERED=Y by default but not all populations have voucher data. Date accuracy is supplied in the visit data but is not delivered in the supertable.
The database was intended to accommodate observations from visits repeated over time to the same population.
NOTE:
The BDBSA Plant Population database was set up to accommodate a range of threatened-plant population data but has not been widely adopted.
PLANT POPULATION DATABASE holds mainly data from early inventories and monitoring of nationally threatened species.
More recently most threatened plant species data have been entered in other projects (OP or SU). |
