Survey/Project Number: 221          Total No. of Sites: 3618
Survey/Project Name: Nationally threatened orchids of the Lofty Block Bioregion extended boundary
Abstract: The aim of the project is to compile and implement recovery plans for about 12 nationally threatened South Australian native orchids. Populations are monitored to gauge the current threats or causes of decline and the effectiveness of recovery actions. Data collected includes population size, number of flowering individuals, number of flowers and the number aborted, grazed, pollinated, hand pollinated, damaged, spent and caged. Project area includes Lofty Block Bioregion and near locations on the Fleurieu Peninsula (Kanmantoo bioregion) and Adelaide Plains (Eyre Yorke bioregion).

Start Date: 01/01/1966      End Date: 31/12/2025
Survey Type: Vegetation Only

Study Area Description: Lofty Block Bioregion and near locations in the Kanmantoo and Eyre Yorke bioregions.
Objectives
Vegetation: Some data stored on Threatened Plant Population database - currently a backlog of data to be appended, some revision of Excel files and directories used to store Threatened Orchid Recovery Project data. Methodology: In the case of threatened plant populations that are being monitored regularly one species may be recorded as present and absent at one visit. This is where individual plants are tagged and if they have not emerged then they are recorded as 'none detected'. Another tagged plant nearby may have the same coordinates and be recorded as present.
