Survey/Project Number: 26          Total No. of Sites: 64
Survey/Project Name: Recherche Archipelago
Abstract: This project aims to conduct an expedition in 1988 and 1989 on the islands of the eastern Recherche Archipelago, Western Australia; including Middle, Goose, Bellinger and Daw Islands. The expedition was conducted to collect biological species lists of vascular plants and vertebrates from as many islands as possible.

Start Date: 11/06/1988      End Date: 13/06/1989
Survey Type: Vegetation Only

Study Area Description: A specific expedition to the island of the eastern Recherche Archipelago Islands included Middle, Goose, Bellinger and Daw. The study area incorporates four discrete islands in the Great Australian Bight, Western Australia. In the east, 124*10' and off Cape Arid National Park in the west, 123*10'. The islands extend from 34*50' in the north to 34*07'10" in the south. These islands include: Middle Island, Goose Island, Bellinger Island and Daw Island.
Objectives
Vegetation: To collect species lists of vascular plants and vertebrates from as many islands as possible.
Fauna: To collect species lists of vascular plants and vertebrates from as many islands as possible.
Methodology
Vegetation: At each grid intersection a vegetation quadrat 10 x 10m was sampled and each species was recorded with a Braun/Blanquet cover abundance score.
Fauna: General species lists for birds, mammals and reptiles for each of the four islands visited.
