Survey/Project Name: Weed Mapping project - South East (part of SE Coastal Action Plan)
Abstract: The South East Coastal Action Plan is currently being developed by DEH. This landmark report incorporates both animal and plant surveys to assess the conservation value of land and where future conservation efforts shout be prioritised. The coastal area being surveyed is from the Corong to the Victorian boarder. Part of the project is mapping the locations of weeds that threaten native plants and animals. Chris Brodie from the State Herbarium will undertake weed surveys of the South East coast. The main weeds of concern that are being targeted for this project are: Priority Species: Polygala myrtifolia L. Dipogon lignosus (L.) Verdc. Ehrharta villosa (L.f.) Schult.f. ex Schult. & Schult.f. var. maxima Stapf Thinopyrum junceiforme (A.Love & D.Love)A.Love & D.Love Arctotheca populifolia (P.J.Bergius) Norl. Coprosma repens A.Rich. Rhamnus alaternus L. However, This is a huge task and there is only a maximum of 4 weeks field work (October-December 2009). This being the case the project has been split into two part - data gathering and then the field work. Specimens collected in the field will be collected and submitted and databased using the existing herbarium dsata base ADHERB.
