BDBSA Project Metadata Detail

Survey/Project Number: 685          Total No. of Sites: 1
Survey/Project Name: BUPRESTIDAE OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA
Abstract: The Buprestidae survey was conducted in 2006, across the entire state of South Australia (with some records from interstate also.) It aimed to compile detailed voucher and sight records of Buprestidae (Jewel Beetle) species to support various projects relating to this group, including: investigation of phylogenetic relationships using DNA sequencing, DNA barcoding for species identification (adult and larval phases), analysis of plant host - insect relationships, determination of conservation status and the implications for 'No species loss', determing the impacts of habitat clearance and degradation, and investigations of potential impacts of climate change on susceptible species. At each site the dominant plants for each site were to be recorded.

Start Date: 07/10/2006      End Date: 31/12/2025
Survey Type: Invertebrates Only

Study Area Description: Main study area is entire state of South Australia. Database does includes some records from other States also.
Objectives
Vegetation: Record dominant plant species present at each site.
Fauna: Compile detailed voucher and sight records of Buprestidae (Jewel Beetle) species to support various projects relating to this group, including: investigation of phylogenetic relationships using DNA sequencing, DNA barcoding for species identification (adult and larval phases), analysis of plant host - insect relationships, determination of conservation status and the implications for 'No species loss', determing the impacts of habitat clearance and degradation, and investigations of potential impacts of climate change on susceptible species.
