Survey/Project Name: Date Palm Photopoint Monitoring Witjira
Abstract: Photopoints were set-up within the Kingfisher Spring complex (as of 2010) at the Dalhouse Mound Spring Complex, Witjira National Park. The primary objectives of this work were to record the aesthetic and vegetation community changes following date palm removal. This information will be used to inform management decisions, but also as a base for interpretive signage/public education. No specified end date for this program - i.e. once the vegetation community recovers the photopoints could be removed (est. 10 years).

Start Date: 22/06/2010      End Date: 01/01/2020
Survey Type: Photopoints only

Study Area Description: Dalhouse Mound Spring Complex, Kingfisher complex, Witjira NP, SA
Objectives
Vegetation: *** No vegetation survey objectives recorded
Fauna: *** No fauna survey objectives recorded
Methodology
Vegetation: to be completed at a later date. Basically the standard DENR photopoint method was used. Photopoint sites were chosen based on the presence of high data palm density. Photopoints consist of 2 6ft metal stakes, driven into the ground, the front post is a sighting post, and the nack rear post being the point from which the photo is taken (a numbered tag used to identif the photopoint is also attached to this post).
Fauna: *** No vertebrate methodology recorded

Data Distribution Rules: Public Dataset
Project Basis: Vegetation : Monitoring - Vegetation/Ecosystem (ie species records - usually re-visited for ongoing monitoring) NOTE:NON Std Svy methodology may have been used.
