Survey/Project Number: 777          Total No. of Sites: 103
Survey/Project Name: Far North East SA Arid Lands NRM Opportune Survey 2011
Abstract: Focusing on Cordillo Downs Station at a time of unusual abundance following two years of above average rainfall, this project consists of two stages. Initially the focus will be on repeating two Kowari monitoring transects, established in the 1990s. This will be followed by extensive opportunistic observations and trapping throughout the property, where access is possible, targetting a number of species which are either poorly recorded in SA, or within this state are restricted to the north east. Scientific Permit #Z24963-7

Study Area Description: NW corner Zone 54 E 406000 N 7124000 NE corner Zone 54 E 500000 N 7124000 SW corner Zone 54 E 406000 N 7026000 SE corner Zone 54 E 500000 N 7026000
Objectives
Vegetation: *** No vegetation survey objectives recorded
Fauna: The Kowari transects consist of 100 pairs of Elliot traps set at 100m intervals (10 kms) on gibber pavement areas, on the Kachumba Plain and to the west of Montocollarra Waterhole. Records of other target species will be collected by observation (including spotlighting from vehicles and on foot) and through the use of both Elliot and pit traps in selected locations reflecting the preferred habitats of these vertebrate species.
Methodology
Vegetation: *** No vegetation methodology recorded
Fauna: *** No vertebrate methodology recorded
