BDBSA Project Metadata Detail

Survey/Project Number: 803          Total No. of Sites: 3484
Survey/Project Name: BDBSA Reserves Database
Abstract: The Reserves database provides lists of fauna and flora records for reserves or parts of reserves in South Australia. A reserve covers those gazetted under the NPW Act (1972) as well as those under Forestry Act or local council reserves, sanctuaries. Reserve lists have been documented for the reserve and can include multiple visits to the reserve. The data are largely historical. Fauna data was entered based on raw data lists. Anything from compiled lists or assumptions was not entered. Some earlier data entry into RESERVES that included compiled lists was removed during the tidy up - mid 1990s. Flora data was entered in order to make a reference list for individual reserves. It was compiled from multiple sources and only species approved by an expert were included. NOTE: Duplicates may be present as the data were sourced from multiple sources. This project contains a subset of the species records stored in the Reserves database that were loaded in 2018 to 2019. The data from Reserves was screened with the aim of loading only records with sufficiently reliable date and location accuracy that are not already stored elsewhere. Species records with taxonomy that had already been rejected or flagged as questionable or redundant were not loaded in this project.

Start Date: 01/01/1900      End Date: 01/01/2020
Survey Type: Vegetation and Fauna

Study Area Description: Whole of South Australia including off shore islands.
Objectives
         Vegetation: Refer to Abstract.
         Fauna: Refer to Abstract.
Methodology
Vegetation: Various; E.g. from Native Vegetation Branch assessments; volunteer surveys or NPWSA files. Only one set of location coordinates is available per reserve or reserve section; generally being the centroid. Species lists may apply to all or part of a reserve or one or more particular sites whose precise locations were not specified.
Fauna: Only one set of location coordinates is available per reserve or reserve section; generally being the centroid . Species lists may apply to all or part of a reserve or a particular site whose precise location was not specified.

Data Distribution Rules: Public Dataset
