Survey/Project Name: Hooded Plover Count Yorke Peninsula
Abstract: The Hooded Plover Count on YP is part of the Biennial Count coordinated by BirdLife Aust from NSW to SA. The count occurs every second year to determine Hooded Plover(Thinornis rubicollis) numbers, breeding success and threats and numbers of other beach nesting birds; Sooty Oystercatcher -Haematopus fuliginosus, Pied Oystercatcher -Haematopus longirostris and Redcapped Plover- Charadrius ruficapillus. Data from 2016 is available via Project 1361 - BEACH-NESTING BIRD - BIRDLIFE AUSTRALIA.

         Fauna: It is a census count which occurs over a weekend in mid Nov, when most Hooded Plovers are firmly established on their breeding territories. Data is accepted one week either side. Surveyors are provided with id material and data sheets.
