Survey/Project Name: | Ecology of the Diamond Firetail in MLR |
Abstract: | Diamond Firetail populations are declining throughout their range in the Mount Lofty Ranges, South Australia. Evidence suggests a shortage of food in winter is limiting juvenile recruitment into the adult population. This study aims to test the hypothesis that a food shortage at critical periods is affecting Diamond Firetail survival. Their diet, food selectivity and foraging ecology will be examined. |
Start Date: | 24/06/2013 End Date: 31/12/2016 |
Survey Type: | Vegetation and Fauna |
Study Area Description: | The eastern Mount Lofty Ranges |

Methodology | |||
Vegetation: | *** No vegetation methodology recorded | ||
Fauna: | DFTs will be tracked, tagged and tracked at 18 study sites throughout the eastern MLR, for a 24 month period. Supplementary feed will be provided at half of the sites and a PVA on each sub-population will test for differences in population longevity. |
Data Distribution Rules: | Public Dataset |
Project Basis: | Fauna : Fauna species/population Study (ie trapping records over time period for species study). NOTE:NON Std Svy methodology may have been used. |
