Abstract: This project aims to study the flora and fauna communities, and their distributions, likely to be affected by the proposed (1988) salinity mitigation scheme within the Chowilla mapsheet, Murraylands region, South Australia.

Study Area Description: Murray River Floodplain habitats including: major and minor stream channels, permanent to rarely inundated swamps and depression, broad floodouts supporting black box woodlands to open herblands, old lunettes, minor sand rises and the Murray River banks with associated sand spreads. Area boundary is defined by the following coordinates located on the Chowilla Mapsheet 7030-02: SW corner northing 487000 and Easting 6238000 and the NE corner easting 500000 and eating 6250000.
Objectives
         Vegetation: Determine the flora and fauna communities and their distributions likely to be affected by the proposed (1988) salinity mitigation scheme. Original end Date was 13-Oct-1988

Methodology
         Vegetation: As for Biological Survey protocol for arid areas.
         Fauna: Two lines of 6 pit and 15 Elliotts per site in the primary patch type. Sites were trapped from 5-9 days.
