BDBSA Project Metadata Detail

Survey/Project Number: 128          Total No. of Sites: 2155
Survey/Project Name: Eyre Peninsula Fauna
Abstract: This project aims to conduct a biological survey of the vertebrate fauna, and to add more site information to the vegetation survey of the variety of habitats present in the Eyre Peninsula (EP) portion of the Eyre and Yorke Block Bioregion, as outlined in the Interim Bioregionalisation of Australia (IBRA V5) Environment Australia 2001, and establish permanent photopoints at those sites. This project also contains some sites surveyed in Munyaroo Conservation Park, eastern EP, as part of the Scientific Exploration Group (SEG) Munyaroo Survey in 2002 and 2005.

Start Date: 20/08/2000      End Date: 14/12/2007
Survey Type: Vegetation and Fauna

Study Area Description: Eyre Peninsula Bioregion (IBRA Thackway et al. 1995) Eyre Peninsula portion of the Eyre and Yorke Blocks Bioregion of Australia (Environment Australia V5.1 2000)
Objectives
Vegetation: Add more site information to the vegetation survey of the variety of habitats present in the Eyre Peninsula portion of the Eyre and Yorke Block Bioregion as outlined in the Interim Bioregionalisation of Australia (IBRA V5) Environment Australia 200. Establish permanent photopoints at those sites.
Fauna: Survey the vertebrate fauna of the variety of habitats present in the Eyre Peninsula portion of the Eyre and Yorke Block Bioregion as outlined in the Interim Bioregionalisation of Australia (IBRA V5) Environment Australia 2001
Methodology
Vegetation: Standard Biological Survey quadrats for Agricultural areas. Some veg sites quadrats are 50 x 50 m in the Far West area. Some of the Munyaroo CP 'MUN' veg sites surveyed by SEG in 2002 & 2005 are missing a significant proportion of cover/abundance values for species. Several sites in Munyaroo CP have 40 x 40 m quadrat size.
Fauna: *** No vertebrate methodology recorded
