Survey/Project Name: Wetlands of the Bakers Range and Marcollat Watercourses
Abstract: Hardcopy report outlining environmental characteristics of wetland in the Bakers Range and Marcollat Watercourse in the South-East of SA. The status of vegetation, aquatic invertebrates, waterbirds, fish, herpetofauna and mammals was assessed, primarily through field survey, but supplemented through existing literature references.

Start Date: 01/01/1986      End Date: 31/12/1987
Survey Type: Vegetation and Fauna

Study Area Description: The wetlands of the Bakers Range and Marcollat Watercourses in the South East of South Australia Bakers Range and Marcollat Watercourses in the South-East of SA.
Objectives
Vegetation: Vegetation associations in the wetlands are described and their species listed with notes on conservation status.
Fauna: Survey fish, birds, herpetofauna and aquatic invertebrates at each wetland.
Methodology
Vegetation: A number of wetland sites on the watercourses were examined in November 1986 with the aim of describing the extent and types of wetland and marginal vegetation present. These sites were described individually. Wherever possible, a species list was provided by plant association.
Fauna: Invertebrates: Invertebrate populatins form 23 wetlands were surveyed over 4 field trips. Sampling device was a kick net. Wetlands were classified according to the similarity of their aquatic invertebrate communities. Birds were surveyed on foot, and bird lists were supplemented by literature references. Fish fauna deteremined from field sampling alone, using gill nets and seine nets. Herpetofauna lists were derived from published material and field obsevations. Mammal lists were prepared from the records of the South Austrlian Museum.

Data Distribution Rules: Public Dataset
Project Basis: Vegetation : Distribution - Vegetation/Fauna species (ie ad-hoc opportunistic species records - not usually re-visited) NOTE:NON Std Svy methodology
Fauna : Fauna species/population Study (ie trapping records over time period for species study). NOTE:NON Std Svy methodology may have been used.
