Survey/Project Name: | Wyndgate Sustainable Grazing Monitoring |
Abstract: | The aim of this project is to assess the impacts of grazing on wetland vegetation on Wyndgate, Coorong National Park. Vegetation assessments are being undertaken and the wetlands are being fenced off and data collected, then used for other similar areas such as Mud Island Game Reserve. The Biological Survey and Monitoring technique is used for the native vegetation surveys, including species present and health/condittion (budding, flowering, reproducing etc). There is 9 quadrats and 9 line transects. The first survey has been completed, the frequency of future data collection is 6 monthly. The grazing pressure will be evident using the line transects as plants that have been grazed will no longer touch the line, which will indicate grazing. The stocking rate of the area will also be recorded for each period, photopoints are set up and quadrats. |
