Abstract: | This project aims to conduct a biological survey of the Marqualpie Land System, in the Innamincka Regional Reserve, north-east South Australia, between 1989 and 1992. AIMS: 1. Produce a baseline of flora and fauna; 2. Investigate habitats in the area. Note: The survey was completed before the area was developed by the petroleum industry. |
Start Date: | 22/01/1989 End Date: 02/04/1992 |
Survey Type: | Vegetation and Fauna |
Study Area Description: | The Marqualpie Land System consists of irregular and longitudinal red sand dunes with varying swales based on differing soil types and broad areas of sandplains. Marqualpie Land System, in the Innamincka Regional Reserve. All sites fall on the Patchawara and Cordillo 1:100000 Mapsheets. |
Objectives | |||
Vegetation: | To do work before development of area by Petroleum Industry. To produce a baseline of flora and fauna, to look at the habitats in the area.
Fauna: | *** No fauna survey objectives recorded
Methodology | |||
Vegetation: | All species present, annual and perennial, within a 30-40m radius either side of a pitfall line were recorded for relative abundance, life cycle and estimate of bare earth. Physical environment, vertebrate
Fauna: | 2 pitfall lines with 5 pots at each site. Post-first survey Elliott trapping was also included with 10 Elliott traps laid out adjacent to pitfall lines. |
