Survey/Project Name: Monitoring of permanent grassland quadrats at Mokota CP
Abstract: Vegetation monitoring in Mokota Conservation Park, approx 15 north of Burra. Monitoring of recovery of grassland vegetation in burnt and unburnt sites following removal of sheep grazing once area converted to Conservation Park. There were 36 sites, each with 25 subquadrats (30cmx30cm). Established in 2000 and monitored yearly or biennially. Survey will provide information for future management of the park. A report was submitted after each episode of monitoring, unpublished.

Start Date: 01/01/1999      End Date: 01/01/2020
Survey Type: Vegetation Only

Study Area Description: Mokota Conservation Park (Mid North of SA) located approximately 15 km NNE of Burra
Objectives
Vegetation: An ongoing grassland monitoring program was begun in 2000 to provide information for future management of the park. A total of 36 sample plots were permanently set up. Previous fire history of the park was unknown except that part of the park had been burnt in autumn 1996. 6 pairs are located in the unburnt area, another 6 pairs in the burnt north facing slopes and another 6 pairs in the burnt west facing slopes. Vegetation was initially sampled in spring -summer 2000 (24 plots) and field work in all 36 plots was undertaken annually or biennially in November after that.
Fauna: *** No fauna survey objectives recorded
Methodology
Vegetation: Frequency of all vascular plant species recorded in each quadrat (or 'plot') via presence/absence recording in 25 randomly selected 30cm by 30 cm subquadrats.
Fauna: *** No vertebrate methodology recorded

Data Distribution Rules: Public Dataset
Project Basis: Vegetation : Monitoring - Vegetation/Ecosystem (ie species records - usually re-visited for ongoing monitoring) NOTE:NON Std Svy methodology may have been used.
