Survey/Project Name: Fairy Tern Monitoring (Coorong Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth)
Abstract: The study area is in the Coorong National Park (CNP) in South Australia. Historically, Fairy Terns have nested in colonies between September and March. Monitoring undertaken by David Paton at the University of Adelaide and DENR suggest in the last decade that the population in the CNP is rapidly declining, ca <180 indivduals in 2010-2011 an 88% decline since 1980s. The main purpose of monitoring Fairy Terns in the CNP is to gain an understanding of distribution and status of the Coorong population. The current monitoring prgram commenced in the 2009-2010.
