Survey/Project Name: Effect of Fire Intensity on Mistletoe Regeneration on Eucalypts (Morialta CP)
Abstract: Monitoring sites have been established in Morialta Conservation Park amongst Eucalyptus leucoxylon trees to monitor the response of mistletoe species particularly Amyema miquelii to fire. The sites including an unburnt control consist of 10 mature trees located on either burnt or unburnt sides of the track heading east from Moores Road. No data has previously been collected to ascertain the response mechanisms of mistletoes to being burnt. It was intended to include additional sites to collect further physiological data on plant responses to different fire intensities, therefore the sample size was kept deliberately small. Amyema miquelii were recorded approx 1 month after the fire.
