Survey/Project Name: Monitoring regent parrot nest colonies along the Murray River Corridor
Abstract: Census of Regent parrots during their breeding season (August), located in the Murraylands, South Australia. The program is being conducted by the Friends Group. Data collection involves visiting areas likely to be utilised by Regent Parrots (River Red Gums near the river) and waiting until they return to the nest (tree hollows) to rest, then recording the sites of the nests (GPS, site location form). Site codes will be established (coloured discs attached to the tree) for each nest to ensure each tree has a unique ID. The nests will then be monitered over time.
