Survey/Project Number: 714          Total No. of Sites: 420
Survey/Project Name: Western Murray Mallee Landscape Assessent Framework Fieldwork (LAF)
Abstract: Field work undertaken in 2008/2013 to document vegetation information for the western portion of the Murray Mallee IBRA Sub-region (Burra Creek to Mannum) in a form useful for implementing conservation and restoration activities within that region. Generate Landscape Response Groups from repeat surveys of 5 hectare/30 minute bird counts.

Start Date: 23/08/2008      End Date: 31/08/2015
Survey Type: Vegetation and Vertebrates

Study Area Description: Burra Creek to Mannum. East of and avoiding the Mount Lofty Ranges and West of and avoiding the River Murray
Objectives
Vegetation: Vegetation - document vegetation information for the western portion of the Murray Mallee IBRA Sub-region in a form useful for implementing conservation and restoration activities within that region.
Fauna: Birds - generate Landscape Response Groups from repeat surveys of 5 hectare/30 minute bird counts
Methodology
Vegetation: Vegetation - A full floristic veg survey was undertaken based on Heard & Channon (1997) with some adaptation (no lifestage information collected) and additional stratum and browse / graze data collected. The collection of stratum and browse / graze data was a trial of these 2 methods. Refer to customised datasheets for stratum and browse / graze attributes. Birds - 3 repeat visits to each site. Each visit is a 30minute/5 hectare area search (generally a 126 metre search radius around the waypoint).
Fauna: *** No vertebrate methodology recorded

Data Distribution Rules: Public
Project Basis: Vegetation : Biological Survey of South Australia - Standard Survey methodology used.
